LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

Many LGBTQIA+ people come to therapy after feeling misunderstood, minimized or asked to educate providers about their identity including pronouns, gender expression or relationship dynamics. Here, that work isn’t yours to do.

Your identity, pronouns and lived experience are respected from the start. Whether you’re questioning, exploring or firmly grounded in who you are, you don’t need to have the right words or answers to begin.

A Therapy Space that gets it

What Brings Folks to Counseling

LGBTQIA+ clients seek therapy for many reasons including:

  • Identity exploration or coming out

  • Relationship concerns and attachment patterns

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Anxiety, burnout or feeling constantly on guard

  • Minority stress and the emotional impact of discrimination

  • Rebuilding a sense of self after rejection or loss

Sometimes the focus is identity-related. Sometimes it’s about work, relationships or simply feeling exhausted. All of it belongs here.

For many trans and nonbinary people, therapy isn’t just about what’s happening on the inside. It’s also about navigating a world that feels uncertain, invalidating or unsafe especially with ongoing cultural pushback, shifting laws and public conversations that question or politicize your existence.

This space acknowledges the real impact of family dynamics, visibility and systems that weren’t built with you in mind. We make room for both your inner experience and the external realities you’re moving through.

This work may include:

  • Exploring gender identity and expression at your own pace

  • Navigating dysphoria, transition-related decisions or medical systems
    * I’m trained in letter writing should you need it!

  • Processing family rejection, invalidation or loss

  • Rebuilding self-trust and confidence when safety or belonging feels fragile

  • Making space for grief, anger, relief and pride — sometimes all at once

Support for Trans & Nonbinary Clients

My Approach

I take a collaborative, affirming approach that centers safety, autonomy and nervous system awareness. We move at your pace and adjust the work based on what feels supportive, not overwhelming.

I integrate trauma-informed care and evidence-based approaches, including EMDR when appropriate, while staying grounded in the reality of your lived experience. Therapy here is not one-size-fits-all, it’s shaped around you.

You’re always in control of what we explore and how we move through it.
