Pregnancy & Postpartum Counseling
Support for pregnancy, postpartum, and new parenthood —for all families
Counseling for Pregnancy & Postpartum
Becoming a parent—through pregnancy, adoption, surrogacy or another path—isn’t simple
Pregnancy and postpartum bring big changes and sometimes they feel heavier than anyone expects. Counseling can help when you’re experiencing:
Anxiety during pregnancy or after birth
A birth that didn’t go as planned
Perinatal or postpartum mood changes
Difficulty bonding or complicated feelings toward your baby
Identity shifts and loss of your old self
Relationship strain or feeling misunderstood
The pressure to “do it all” and hide how hard it actually feels
A history of infertility, pregnancy loss or trauma that makes this season heavier
Challenges unique to LGBTQIA+ parents, like navigating medical systems that assume cisgender, heterosexual families or feeling unseen as a queer or nonbinary parent
You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support. And you don’t have to know how to name what’s wrong to begin. Even if everything seems “fine” on the surface, having a safe space to process, reflect and get support can make a big difference.
*Support is available for all people navigating pregnancy and early parenthood including LGBTQIA+ parents, birth partners and families of all configurations.
How Therapy Can Support You
Every parent’s experience is different, and there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach. Together, we can focus on what feels most pressing for you whether that’s navigating big emotions, finding balance or simply feeling seen. Some of the areas we often explore include:
Understanding your changing emotions: Anxiety, overwhelm or mood shifts are common and learning ways to work with them can help you feel steadier.
Rebuilding trust in your body: Pregnancy and birth can leave your body feeling unfamiliar; we’ll work on reconnecting with it and honoring its strength.
Processing medical, birth trauma or fertility experiences: Using EMDR and nervous-system-informed approaches when helpful, we can gently work through the impact of medical experiences or traumatic births.
Adjusting to identity shifts: Becoming a parent changes how you see yourself. We can explore what’s shifted and how to honor both the old and new parts of you.
Supporting your relationships: Partners, family, and friends all adjust differently. We can work on communication, boundaries, and navigating support.
Finding space for yourself: Even in the middle of caregiving, you deserve time to process, reflect, and recharge.
Finding Support that Fits this Season of Life
Parenthood changes everything and you don’t have to do it alone. Support looks different for everyone whether it’s regular sessions, occasional check-ins or practical guidance during a particular challenging moment through single session therapy. I will meet you where you are and we can make therapy work for you!
This is a space to slow down, process and care for yourself in a season that asks so much of you. You can reach out when you’re ready, bring what you’re carrying and find support, understanding and validation every step of the way.
Take the Next Step
Parenthood changes everything no matter your path to parenthood. Take a quiet moment to check in with yourself, notice what you need and give yourself the support you deserve. All parents and pregnant people are welcome whichever path brought you here.
